Building a Community around Men’s Mental Health

John Gilbert talks with Paul Longley about his journey from Production manager and rugby coach to mental health champion. We also discuss the Andy’s Man Club identity, the importance of getting together with other people to share experiences, how to leverage social media as a tool for positivity, and also how whilst it is important to talk about mental health it is equally significant that we listen.

John talks with Paul Longley, one of the founding members of the Hull Branch of men’s mental health support group; Andy’s Man Club.

We recorded our discussion in Hull; where Paul tells us is one of the UK’s most prevalent places to live when it comes to mental ill health. Fortunately, Andy’s Man’s Club, the NHS and other partners are working together to help us help each other.

If you have been affected by any of the issues discussed in this podcast, please don’t keep them to yourself. Talk. Whether that’s someone you know, a service, support number or group; there are people willing to listen.
